Know Jesus Fully: Steps to Live Broadcasting- 4

Content- Content is what you provide to your online clients.  This ministry is like a business and as such you will need to provide a service that your clients desire and want to return to for more.  Think about your clients, not yourself.  Try to think and view your content from their perspective.  This can be dificult as most of us tend to not think "outside of the box".  A good practice to start with is to critically look at other broadcasts.  Look at ours, for instance, and see what you like or would do differently.  Remember that there are parts of a service that you may not wish broadcast. For instance, childrens story- we chose not to broadcast children as much as pratically possible.  We felt that it is not in the best interest of the children to be showing their faces on the internet.  We had to ask the church board to move the schedule of order to accomodate a longer broadcast service by moving that event to a different time.

Take a look at this guide we developed for use during production.  I suggest your group do the same for your church.  Take the time to ask around and get feedback on what content to include.

Trial Runs - I can't stress this enough- Test! Test! Test!  Use check lists, start small, do practice runs before actually launching & advertising.  I can tell you from experience, that not enough time is spent testing and doing the dry runs. Remember the the old addage, "If something can go wrong, it will".  Each week, I do a sample broadcast just before the live one.  I have found more glitches during those pre-broadcast runs than I care to admit to.  Doing this 20-30 minutes prior to the live broadcast seems about right and most anything can be fixed prior to going live, even reloading software.
Testing applies to your staff also.  Take the time to train them to at least a basic level of competence and confidence. Use mid-week prayer meeting or an evening vespers as the training ground. Having your staff train other staff members in their area of expertise provides your team with more proficient operators.
